Are Dental Aligners For You?

Properly aligned teeth, essential for a beautiful smile, can be achieved using dental aligners, the perfect solution to crooked or shifting teeth. Are they the right solution for you? Probably yes, if correcting a small to medium amount of dental misalignment.

Dental aligners are custom-made, clear plastic trays that fit over your teeth to gradually shift them to a desired position. They are nearly invisible, removable, and therefore, easy to clean. That’s why they’re a popular choice for those reticent about wearing metal braces.

The first consultation, when being fitted with dental aligners, will have the dentist take impressions of your teeth and use them to create a 3D model. Based on this model, the aligner lab will build a set of graduated aligners - each aligner varying slightly from the one before it.

Patients wear each aligner for about two weeks before moving to the next one, which puts consistent pressure on the teeth. Over time, teeth will align correctly.

Disadvantages? Dental aligners are usually more expensive than conventional metal braces, Moreover, they require diligent patient compliance. If not worn for the recommended amount of time each day, results will suffer.

Procedure Steps:

-- Consultation  with an orthodontist or dentist

--  Impressions  of your teeth are taken to create a 3D model of your mouth.

--  Shift Iterations   of the series of aligners created for you, with each aligner slightly different from the one before it.

--  Wear Cycle   of each aligner is about two weeks before switching to the next one.

--  Behold the Results   as over time the aligners gradually shift your teeth into the desired position.

What About Cost?

Assuming no extraordinary complications, the aligners we use at Riga Dentist are priced at 1300€. There are more expensive options like the heavily promoted Invisalign™ brand. However, we like Orthoclear™ and have had good results with them.

Are they the right choice for you? Our orthodontist will be happy to help you decide.
